Texas Gains from Health Reform

Families U.S.A.’s new report, Coverage for All: We All Stand to Gain, looks at how many Americans in each state would gain coverage under the House bill in 2013 (the first year of implementation) and 2019 (the last year for which we have data), and finds that each state will gain coverage for at least 48,000 people by 2019, with eight states gaining coverage for more than one million people. According to the report, Texas is one of five states with the most to gain from health reform with potentially more than 4.5 million newly insured Texans by 2019.
