Those who say greater government involvement in health care means less control by individuals and their doctors fail to acknowledge the reality that today, medical decisions are driven by for profit insurance companies accountable to shareholders. I'd rather have government involved which is accountable to voters and their representatives. Furthermore, the wider the coverage pool, the broader we spread the risk, the more cost effective the insurance.

It certainly is a good sign that a major problem in America is being discussed.
However, I fail to understand why we can not get universal single payer up before the committee. Just what part does insurance have in my health care? Why should American employers be saddled with their employees health insurance?

I have yet to hear a rational explanation to these questions. The main problem in health care program is insurance. The over bloated administrative costs of insurance, and the ability of insurance to dictate to doctors how to treat patients is totally insane. I fail to see why this impediment to health care could not/should not be eliminated altogether.

Health care is a human right that has yet to be recognized by the American government and the corporate state. It is we the people that determine what is and what is not a human right, not corporate board rooms. But, I also realize that under the capitalist system you get what you're willing to fight for. This one fight that we the people will finally win, because the way the present system is going, it will price itself right out of existence.
